SARAH HANNER IS AN AWARD-WINNING WRITER AND DIRECTOR LIVING IN LOS ANGELES AND IDYLLWILD, CALIFORNIA.

Hanner’s dark stories and psychological thrillers reveal the pathways into the human psyche, as seen in her newest short film, Bläckfisk, a story about love and relationships told through the shadow. Hanner received her undergraduate degree in English Literature and Creative Writing from the prestigious University of Washington's creative writing program, and later earned her MA in Psychology.

She is a self-taught artist across multiple media, focusing primarily on filmmaking because it combines her passions: writing, visual artistry, music, and performance. Hanner received a visual arts education during her time at DPA Fine Art Consulting, where she curated art collections for dignitaries, luxury hospitality properties, and serious collectors worldwide.

Sarah is currently at work on the feature film version of her award-winning short Bläckfisk, and is adapting her recently published dark thriller short story “Sisters”. Hanner graduated from UCB’s 500 series improv training and is a published short story author. Her first TV project, “Playdates”, which she produced, starring Paul Scheer, was selected and premiered at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.

Sarah also served as a young professionals board member of the DTLA Skid Row non-profit Arts Education High School for underprivileged youth, Inner-City Arts, where she helped raise awareness, plan events, fundraise, and volunteer for more than 5 years. She is passionate about arts education and uses her gifts and tools to help teach consciousness and creativity in her psychology coaching business.

When Sarah isn’t traveling and making art, she lives in Idyllwild with her two rescue pups, scruffy little terriers, Romeo and Scarlet.
